What’s Happening? Find Great Funtastic Adventures in the Florida Keys!

Holiday season in the Keys is a wholly unique experience! Any sort of seasonal activity from holiday photos with dolphins, Christmas Tree Lightings, bicycle races, and a decorated marine parade are happening. See a sampling of the season’s festivities below:

The Upper Keys:
In Key Largo and Islamorada, where KeysCaribbean Luxury Resorts and Marinas has two exclusive locations, Mariners Resort Villas & Marina and the Historic Tavernier Inn

On December 7th in Key Largo food, music and drinks accompany the annual tree lighting event. Sponsored by the Key Largo Chamber of Commerce the festivities will be held at the Murray E. Nelson Government and Cultural Center, MM 102. 6-9pm. In honor of the 100th Anniversary of Henry Flagler’s Over-Sea Railroad the Key Largo Community tree will be decorated “railroad.” (800-822-1088)

On December 10th, Jon Landau, award winning producer of “Avatar” and “Titanic” will be the Grand Marshall of the Key Largo Holiday Lighted Boat Parade  (305-394-3736)

The Middle Keys:
In the Middle Keys,  KeysCaribbean Luxury Resorts and Marinas has the Village at Hawks Cay Villas on Duck Key, Indigo Reef Resort Villas & Marina and the Coral Lagoon Resort Villas & Marina vacation rentals in Marathon

Marathon, until December 22nd.  It’s not too late to get those Holiday cards out with your photo with a dolphin. All ‘Meet the Dolphin’ guests have the option to pose for holiday photos with the dolphin! Holiday themed props are available and guests are welcome to bring their own. (25$ and the cost of admission at the Dolphin Research Center.) Photographers are available ($15 for one person photo/$30.00 for two-six persons) Meet the Dolphin, with Holidays Photos, is offered several times a day on a walk-in basis at the Dolphin Research Center MM59, along the Overseas Highway, Grassy Key. Third Thursday Islamorada Art Walk on December 15th presented by Morada Way Arts & Cultural District. Special presentation and exhibit with renowned black and white landscape photographer Clyde Butcher along with music, art and culinary treats of the Purple Isles. 47th Annual Islamorada Junior Sailfish Tounament give anglers 16 years and younger the opportunity to tie a bimmini or rig a ballyhoo in the Islamorada Junior Saifish tournie hosted by the OceanView Sports Bar & Grill, MM 84.5 bayside. Enry fee is $100 per angler (six anglers per boat) Every angler earns a tournament trophy and proceeds benefit Monroe County Toys for Toys. Islamorada to Key West Bicycle Tour Learn the history of the Florida Keys while getting sunshine an exercise. The 90-mile tour is $150 per person (which is a donation to local sports programs) and starts at 6 a.m. at the Coral Shores High School parking lot (MM 90). Rent or bring your own bike to meet the tour – vehicle support, break stations, lunch, time in Key West and ride back to Islamorada are included. This ride is limited to 6 riders. The Lower Keys:
In the Lower Keys, KeysCaribbean Luxury Resorts and Marinas has the Coral Hammock Resort Villas and Kings Point Marina & Condominiums vacation rentals

Join the Key West ‘Bight’ Before Christmas Holiday Celebration. Festively lit rooftops-to-the-sea holiday season Harbor Walk of Lights along the Historic Seaport at Key West Bight from Greene Street to Grinnell Street takes place nightly until December 31st. The festivities are presented by the Key West Bight Preservation Association.

Big Pine & The Lower Keys Island Art Festival on December 10th
includes live music by local entertainers, food, exhibits and booths. Festivities traditionally take place on the grounds of the Lower Keys Chamber of Commerce, MM 31 oceanside.

Key West Southernmost Christmas Tree Celebration takes place on December 11th. Get your free conch chowder, then board Conch Tour Trains to proceed to the continental United States’ Southernmost Point to set up the southernmost Christmas tree at sunset overlooking the Atlantic Ocean. The event is an annual community thank-you party presented by the Monroe Association for ReMARCable Citizens. The fun starts at 1401 Seminary St.
