In desperation, he takes up a job offer from drag queen Miss Tracy, to fill in for her drunk partner at a night’s cabaret performance. Turns out he’s a natural, and soon he’s decked out in sequins and warbling Barbara Streisand with the best of them. However, he’s kept his new job secret from his wife Jo, who’s starting to wonder about her husband’s newly unleashed feminine side.

  The History of Diving Museum presents the annual presentation series that spotlights a new topic the third Wednesday of each month, at 7 p.m. Exhibits and museum store stay open late (normal museum admission applies).

May. 4, 2018 – May. 6, 2018 Nick Sheahan Dolphin RodeoMarcia Panse 305-393-3733 Website A tournament honoring the memory of Nick Sheahan, a Florida Keys student, funds from this event benefit a namesake community scholarship fund. Hosted at Tavernier Creek Marina, cash prizes and $25,000 to the angler with the dolphin that beats the state record. Hosted at Tavernier Creek Marina, entry fee for adults is $185, $50 for juniors.

The Middle Keys

May. 4, 2018 – May. 6, 2018  Marathon Offshore Bull and Cow Dolphin Tournament Jack Carlson 305-481-0495  Website A guaranteed grand prize of $10,000 cash is to go to the team that catches the largest bull and cow dolphin fish combined. However, according to organizers, the top prize payout increases as more boats register. With a field of 60-69 boats, the first-place cash award is to be $13,000, increasing incrementally by 10 boats. If a field of 100 boats is reached, the guaranteed first-place cash prize is $25,000. while other prizes are awarded to anglers catching the largest dolphin, wahoo, tuna and tripletail.

May. 5, 2018 – May. 9, 2018  Tarponian Tournament David Breznicky 215-542-1492 For enthusiastic tarpon anglers, silver kings mean springtime. This high-energy, three-evening tournament mandates that teams fish with a different captain each evening. Teams also rotate among the three major bridge channels in Marathon, so any potential “hot spots” are shared among all anglers.

   Making God Laugh is a family comedy that takes place in four scenes, each ten years apart and set at various holidays. Beginning in 1980, the newly “launched” kids – a priest, an aspiring actress, and a former star football player – all return home where we learn of their plans as they embark on their adult lives. The “empty nest” parents contend with their own changes as well as old family rituals and dubious recipes are trotted out and ancient tensions flare up.  “If you want to make God laugh, tell him your plan…” Woody Allen

May. 9, 2018 – May. 13, 2018 Key West Songwriters’ Festival Charlie Bauer 305-304-0814 Website The annual showcase of musical magic features America’s foremost performing songwriters, with concerts staged in intimate, audience-friendly island settings. The largest festival of its kind in the world celebrates its 23 years as both a tourist attraction and favorite of island locals. The festival revolves around five days and nights of big stars in intimate settings, introducing audiences to the faces, voices and stories behind the songs.

May. 4, 2018 – May. 6, 2018 Third Annual Papio Kinetic Sculpture Parade  305-295-6616  Website  If one man’s junk is another man’s treasure, then the late Key Largo folk artist Stanley Papio was a treasure hunter extraordinaire. Fans of “outsider art” can celebrate the renegade metal sculptor’s legacy with a people-powered parade of mobile sculptures crafted in the spirit of his extraordinary creations. The Papio Kinetic Sculpture Parade features colorful sculptural floats, tricycles with exotically costumed riders, fantastically decorated bicycles and other moving works of art — all powered by human effort alone — and are to follow a route along the length of Key West’s Duval Street.

The show is all LIVE, no lip-sync. Thrill to his parodies of Marilyn Monroe, Carol Channing, Madonna, Joan Rivers, Reba McEntire, Bette Midler, Tina Turner, Julie Andrews, Barbra Streisand, Liza Minnelli, Judy Garland, Eartha Kitt, Cher, Bette Davis, Lucille Ball, even Lady GaGa. Collections, Key West presents: Visual Stories
Call for hours 305-923-4778  Local artists and artisans of the Lower Keys are coming together for an end of the season show; Visual Stories. Lizzie Devries’ figures made of historic shutters will mix with local exotic hardwood furnishings created by Jimmy & Karen Wray’, while Craig Sasser tells nostalgic stories of the Keys. Pamela McLeod comes back to the art scene after an imposed halt by Ms Irma, she will be showing her jewelry and new sculpture designs. As a special treat, world traveler, Louis Wray will share with us his traversing talents via a photographic journey. Opening set for Friday, April 21st 5-8 p.m., 6810 Front St., Stock Island.

  Key West Fishing Tournament

More than 40 species of fish are targeted during these months, with divisions for men, women, junior anglers (ages 10 to 14) and Pee Wees (under 10 years old). The Key West Fishing Tournament strongly encourages the release of game fish. All participating anglers receive certificates noting their catches and qualify for a variety of prizes.
