Joe Cella Memorial Award, The Birds in Nature Art Show
Joe Cella was a well-known and well-liked artist who specialized in woodcarvings of birds in nature. Awards in the art show include oil painting, acrylic and photography. Jim Bokor’s Islamorada All-Tackle Bonefish & Redfish Shootout

Anglers vie for top-honor trophies for catches of bonefish and redfish in this newly formatted event, appealing to a broader spectrum of anglers. Divisions in the tournament’s new format include bait, artificial and fly. Awards also are to be given for total release points for each species and to the high-point angler for each day. An overall grand champion is to be named for both bonefish and redfish in the three categories.

Jimmy Johnson’s National Billfish Championship
Hosted by Jimmy Johnson, two-time Super Bowl winning coach and former head coach at the University of Miami, this prestigious billfish championship benefits the Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center, a South Florida-based cancer-related research, diagnosis and treatment facility. All anglers on the winning boat receive authentic, custom-designed Jimmy Johnson’s NBC Championship rings.

12th Annual Sombrero Beach Run

Each year, several hundred racing circuit runners are attracted by a weekend filled with sunshine and athletic fun. Stocked with food, drinks, music and entertainment, the event is to be staged at Sombrero Beach at the end of Sombrero Beach Road, mile marker 50. Awards are given to overall finishers in the 10k run, 5k run and 5k walk.

61st Annual Key Colony Beach Days
Participants and visitors can enjoy this family event set for 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on the grounds of Key Colony Beach City Hall, the day features vendors, food, live music and more. A Shriner’s pancake breakfast starts at 8 a.m., a parade is set for 11:30 a.m. Free admission, free parking, old fashioned fun.

Conch Shell Blowing Contest
An island tradition for over 50 years, this unique contest celebrates the historic importance of conch in the Keys and features contestants in several age categories attempting to make “music” with fluted conch shells. Contest located in the garden of the Oldest House, 322 Duval Street, free and open to all ages. Registration begins at 10 a.m., contest starts at noon.

A kickoff party is to be staged at the home of the Tennessee Williams Key West Exhibit founders Dennis Beaver and Bert Whitt Feb. 28, and the festival, a 6-week commemoration of the literary icon who lived on the island for thirty-four years, is to continue into April and boasts a full roster of writing and painting contests, film and poetry forums, curator tours of the Tennessee Williams Museum at 513 Truman Avenue, a March 26th birthday party for the playwright, and 2 one-act theatre productions of the Pulitzer-Prize-winner’s work. With a career that encompasses five Grammys, numerous chart successes and personal and professional accolades, as well as collaborations with some of the world’s most prominent artists, Michael McDonald remains an enduring force in popular music. Hailing from St. Louis, McDonald arrived in Los Angeles in the early 1970s, honing his talents as a studio musician before becoming an integral part of Steely Dan. Studios of Key West presents: Undying Love, A Key West Musical
Writer/musician/playwright Ben Harrison penned the definitive account of this true macabre love story in his nonfiction book, Undying Love, which earned him a spot in front of national audiences on the Howard Stern Show and This American Life. Originally performed at the Appelrouth Grill in 1999, Undying Love: The Musical distills the atmosphere of Key West in the 1930′s, and perfectly melds the pathos of von Cosel’s tale with Harrison’s signature dry humor.
