Arts Council Presents the Connections Project 2018 TOUR
The Florida Keys Council of the Arts works to support all the arts, in all the Keys, all the time. The local arts agency is launching its sixth annual Connections Project road show with a grand opening reception at the Murray Nelson Government & Cultural Center in Key Largo from 5:30 – 7:30 p.m. featuring a vibrant 24-foot mosaic mural created by local artists and art lovers. The reception with wine and hors d’oeuvres is open to the public.

Florida Keys Concert Association presents: Evening of Opera Highlights
Remarkable performers will bring you the best and most exciting music from the world of opera. Performances by So Young Park, Federico De Michelis, Cesar Canon. Show starts 7:30 PM., at Island Community Church, 83250 Overseas Highway, Islamorada, (MM83). Tickets to be available online.

Join the Friday “Beer Mile” event, which is quite simple: 1 Mile and 4 Beers. Do you have what it takes? Saturday is the main event; there are to be cash prizes for the top 3 finishers for male/female in the half marathon and great awards for the top 3 finishers of the 10K.  In addition, prizes for those who place top 3 in their age groups for both races.  Register for all events online. Swamp Guides Ball
All-release tournament offers fishing for bonefish, redfish and snook in the shallows of the Florida Keys and the saltwater fringes of the Everglades. The silent auction is always well attended by locals, guests of the tournament’s host venue Lorelei Restaurant & Cabana Bar, and visitors that come in just to bid on our awesome items and guided trips. This annual event benefits the Florida Keys’ Guides Trust Foundation.

Islamorada Women’s Sailfish Tournament

In this light-tackle challenge, awards await the grand champion team (boat), first runner-up and second runner-up team, captain and mate. Other awards are presented for the high-point angler, outstanding catch, largest tuna, dolphin and kingfish, most tagged sailfish and hard luck. Proceeds benefit the Cancer Foundation of the Florida Keys.

24th Annual Pigeon Key Art Festival
Artists and craftspeople are to exhibit their work from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily at this weekend event, located at the Marathon Community Park, MM 49, that includes live music and delicious food. Marine artist Wyland plans be on hand to create ink paintings to be auctioned live as part of the annual fundraiser. At the Festival, guests will find exhibits and displays, touch tanks, hands-on activities and even a puppet show that bring marine and wildlife education to life. Event proceeds from the event are to benefit the Pigeon Key Foundation.

Key West Impromptu Concerts presents: Western Wind
Since 1969, the internationally acclaimed vocal sextet The Western Wind has devoted itself to the special beauty and variety of a cappella music. The Ensemble’s repertoire reveals its diverse background – from Renaissance motets to Fifties rock ‘n’ roll, from medieval carols to Duke Ellington, from complex works by avant-garde composers to the simplest folk melodies. This is their second Impromptu appearance .Show starts 4 p.m., St. Paul’s Episcopal Church.

Shopping Bazaar inside the dog park features entertainment, food vendors, a Kissing Booth, gifts for that special Valentine and more! A unique opportunity to support the lifesaving mission caring for the Keys’ community’s homeless animals, the event supports the Florida Keys SPCA. Check in is 9 a.m. Event is from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Higgs Beach, at the Higgs Dog Park. Bring four-legged friends.

Last season, Seth Glier blew us all away with a special private performance showcasing his incredible vocal and emotional range. This year, he returns to the Studios of Key West to play for everyone. The Grammy-nominated musician and songwriter “echoes Bruce Springsteen and Billy Joel” (USA Today). Show starts 7 p.m.

Inaugural Mile 0 Fest Key West
Mile 0 Fest Key West is a brand-new music festival assured to be a “must see” in the burgeoning Red Dirt & Americana music scene. Take in the big shows at Truman Waterfront Park Amphitheatre, a brand new state-of-the-art facility located blocks off the hopping streets of Duval, OR get into a stripped down acoustic set with your favorite band leader at one of the theatres or bars off Duval. Throw your hat into the ring for one of the charity golf outings or a fishing derby! These are just a few of the many activities and memorable experiences that await you at the inaugural Mile 0 Fest.

2017′s intimate piano concert by Jeffrey Chappell was a master class in classical virtuosity and dazzling improvisation. This year Chappell is joined by Grammy-nominated flutist Karen Kevra for a recital program using their upcoming recording of standard French repertoire as a jumping off point. Show starts 7 p.m.

Colorful Civil War re-enactments, the roar of cannon fire and the sight of soldiers in Civil War uniforms are to greet visitors at Key West’s oceanfront historic Civil War-era Fort Zachary Taylor Historic State Park, as participants journey into the island’s past.

More than 40 species of fish are targeted during these months, with divisions for men, women, junior anglers (ages 10 to 14) and Pee Wees (under 10 years old). The Key West Fishing Tournament strongly encourages the release of game fish. All participating anglers receive certificates noting their catches and qualify for a variety of prizes.

This sharply funny and evocative exploration of time was the flat our hit of the 2016 Contemporary American Theatre Festival in the 25th season. The play centers on four women who bonded as protesters one night in jail in their youth. Through the vagaries of love, careers, children, and lost causes, the women reunite once a year for a photo shoot, chronicling their changing selves. But when these private photos have the potential to become part of a public exhibit, mutiny erupts and relationships are tested.
