Ocean Life Lecture Series 2012

Presented by Friends of the Key Largo Cultural Center, visitors are welcome to participate in the new Ocean Life Lecture Series; topics include Coral Spawning in the Florida Keys (March 16); Sea Turtles (April 20); Coral Reefs & Human Systems (May 18); World Oceans Day (June 8); Florida Everglades (July 20). Meet-and-greet- reception is at 6 p.m., lecture begins at 7 p.m. Tickets $10 per adult, students are free. Held at the theater inside the Murray E. Nelson Cultural Center, MM 102.

Annual Kids’ Day at Holiday Isle

Underwater Easter Egg Hunt

The Easter bunny hosts this annual underwater egg hunt off Key Largo to benefit Kids in Special Situations, a local charity for needy children. Open to divers and snorkelers.

Islamorada / April 10 – 13

Jim Bokor’s Islamorada All-Tackle Spring Bonefish Tournament

The prestigious All-Tackle championship is to go to the high-point angler who catches at least one bonefish in all four tackle divisions and one or more weight fish in at least two divisions. This demanding challenge, with general, fly and spin-casting divisions, is limited to 25 invited anglers, with a maximum of two anglers plus guide per boat.

31st Annual Seven Mile Bridge Run

An estimated field of 1,500 runners are to participate in the annual foot race across the longest segmental bridge in the world. Sponsored by the Marathon Runners Club.

Red Barn Theatre presents: Match

 

This Broadway hit stars the hysterical Tom Luna as Tobi Powell, an eccentric and endearing dancer, choreographer and teacher. A married couple arrives at Powell’s apartment to interview him about his life, but it is soon evident that their agenda is as multi-layered as Tobi’s life story. Migration Mania is Back!

Migration Mania is back at the Key West Botanical Garden, from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. Migration Mania begins with The Great Egg Hunt. The ‘Great Egg Hunt’ themed event will include multiple birding egg hunts for children featuring 7,000 eggs, birding seminars, live birds shows, bird crafts, games, contests, a bounce house, and more. The egg hunts will be divided by age and there will be four different egg hunts throughout the day. Admission $5 for adults and children. Free for members. Crafts, Games & More All Day!

Waterfront Playhouse presents: The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee

H-I-L-A-R-I-O-U-S! This jubilant musical is about a group of quirky prepubescent overachievers who are pitted against each other in the spelling challenge of a lifetime. They are overseen by grown-ups who barely managed to escape childhood themselves. Ultimately, the nerdy and the wordy learn that winning isn’t everything and that losing doesn’t necessarily make you a loser. Infectious songs and a laugh-out-loud script make Spelling Bee a winner! Showtime 8 p.m.
