Keys Community Concert Band presents: Salute America

Enjoy live music for all ages at a family-friendly free indoor community band concert as the season-opener for Pops in the Park honors the Dreams of the American Family, with patriotic music as a special tribute to hurricane Irma recovery. Performance starts at 4 p.m. at the Island Christian Church, a first-ever indoor venue for KCCB.

The annual Festival of Trees is to take place at the Florida Keys Country Club. Holiday trees are festively displayed, and decorated by members of the Zonta Club of Marathon, a humanitarian service organization. Visitors and residents can bid to purchase the decorated trees.

More than 40 species of fish are targeted during these months, with divisions for men, women, junior anglers (ages 10 to 14) and Pee Wees (under 10 years old). The Key West Fishing Tournament strongly encourages the release of game fish. All participating anglers receive certificates noting their catches and qualify for a variety of prizes.

The Studios of Key West presents International Art Show
The Studios of Key West kicks off its eleventh season of exhibiting the finest in local and international art by filling their galleries with work from around the world.On view at The Studios, 533 Eaton Street. Exhibitions can be viewed during normal gallery hours, Tues. through Sat. from 10 a.m.- 4 p.m. A special opening events and a book signing will take place Thurs., November 2 from 6-8 p.m. during the First Thursday Gallery Walk.

Enjoy this film presentation’s screening, from Grammy-winning guitarist, producer Paul Nelson. A near constant presence at the side of rock and blues legend Johnny Winter in the last decade of his life, Paul Nelson is widely credited with helping Winter find himself again, and for prompting a remarkable resurgence in the aging star’s career after the 1990′s found him in deteriorating health and performing far beneath his potential. “Down and Dirty” documents a year on the road with Johnny Winter during his re-emergence, a period leading up to the star-studded 70th birthday bash in Times Square which would be his last. Lighting of the Key West “Harbor Walk of Lights.”

The eagerly awaited pre-Thanksgiving event is to take place at 6 p.m. at Greene and Elizabeth streets, with the lighting of a holiday tree made from plastic foam trap floats, a fresh pine nautically decorated Christmas tree and a lobster trap tree along the Key West Historic Seaport’s Harbor Walk. The Harbor Walk is lit nightly through New Year’s Eve.

The second Key West Artisan Market of the season will include culinary, textile, jewelry, wood, artists & crafters, curiosities, the Key West Writer’s Guild Local Author’s Nook, live music by 104.9 The X, craft beer, wine and art in Garage Mahal and food concessions. Artisan Market dates have been set for Sundays, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., every three weeks (except Easter), at The Restaurant Store. Bring your own bags.

COAST presents: The Coast is Clear

The crew at COAST — the Stock Island based artist and craftsman collective — has organized a two-day benefit concert festival, aptly named “Coast Is Clear”, with the goal of raising money and spirits for the Florida Keys community in the wake of hurricane Irma. To date, the lineup includes national touring artists G. Love, Langhorne Slim, Rayland Baxter and Rorey Carroll. In addition, local favorites Patrick and The Swayzees and The Skank — among others — will add local flavor to the stages over the two-day event. Thursday (11/30) performances are to take place in the Bahama Village neighborhood with events shifting between Blue Heaven, Green Parrot and The COAST Outpost (803 Whitehead Street). Friday (12/1) shows will take place on Stock Island at Hogfish and COAST — both located on Front Street.
