 Enjoy a special exhibit celebrating and honoring the Spiegel Grove, intentionally sunk 15 years ago off Key Largo. This exhibits highlights all who served on this great ship, missions it participated in, the efforts in preparing her for sinking and the environmental impact the artificial reef has had on the area. The exhibit is to be on display through Labor Day.

Third Thursday ArtWalks
are held every month throughout the year, offering attendees live music on three stages, performance artists and, of course, original art and hand-crafted jewelry, as well as pottery, sculptures and more! This monthly event has become a focal point of artistic expression and cultural awareness to the Upper Keys. As the Art District’s business partners remain open during these Third Thursday Art Walk evenings, this indoor/outdoor street festival has become the talk of the Keys, drawing multitudes of people from all over South Florida and beyond each month. The crowds stroll through the Art District, which spans a quarter of a mile of the Old Highway between the historical 1935 Hurricane Monument and the iconic Green Turtle Inn and includes the intersecting street now known as Morada Way, between MM 81 and 82.

 Florida Keys artists and sculptors are featured in this open-air exhibit at the Key West Tropical Forest and Botanical Garden. Exhibit is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Explore a unique blend of sculptured art with Mother Nature that enhances both. The Key West Art Garden showcases local artist’s art work made mostly out of recycled materials displayed as part of nature within the beautiful grounds of the Key West Tropical Forest & Botanical Garden. Art displayed throughout the garden allows visitors to reignite their sense of exploration finding each treasure and appreciating the workmanship in the nature and art. An opening reception to meet the artists and unveiling is to be held on Wed., April 26 from 4-6 p.m. with art walk to follow.

More than 40 species of fish are targeted during these months, with divisions for men, women, junior anglers (ages 10 to 14) and Pee Wees (under 10 years old). The Key West Fishing Tournament strongly encourages the release of game fish. All participating anglers receive certificates noting their catches and qualify for a variety of prizes.

Go behind the scenes at Key West’s sweetest spot for key lime pie and learn to make Key Lime Pie Co.’s award-winning recipe of all-natural ingredients. In this class held Thursdays at 11 a.m. and Fridays at 10 a.m. & 11:30 a.m., each participant will make his/her own mini key lime pie of graham cracker crust, key lime filling, and whipped topping—tasting encouraged! Experience pie making in our live kitchen—under the tutelage of one of our seasoned pie makers—where thousands of delicious key lime pies are made every week! Anglers ply the waters once fished by writer Ernest Hemingway, vying for $50,000 in guaranteed cash prizes. Held in conjunction with Key West’s annual Hemingway Days festival, the event awards $25,000 to the first-place team. Teams can enter one fun fish (dolphin, tuna, wahoo or released sailfish) per day to add to their point total.

Join the Coral Restoration Foundation and the Amoray Dive Resort to see  how coral reefs are being revitalized and restored through the “planting”  of threatened coral species. Your day will begin with a brief presentation and history of coral reef degradation and what the Coral Restoration Foundation and the Amoray Dive Resort are doing to help. Following the morning presentation, there will be on-land, hands-on practice and a 2-tank dive trip: the first location is to our expansive, acre-sized coral nursery in the open ocean, home to over 400 coral “trees”. The second location is to visit restored reefs to collect valuable data, or to plant corals, for restoration on select reefs!  Whatever you do, you will play an important role in an unprecedented, large-scale restoration effort in the Florida Keys! Space limited.
