This exhibits highlights all who served on this great ship, missions it participated in, the efforts in preparing her for sinking and the environmental impact the artificial reef has had on the area. The exhibit is to be on display through Labor Day.

Fifth Annual Ladies Dolphin Tournament
Hosted by the Florida Keys Elks Lodge, this event welcomes female angler teams to compete for the highest aggregate weight of three dolphin fish, as well as junior anglers under 16 years of age. Cash and prizes are awarded to first- through third-place finishers, and for the largest dolphin caught.

Named for the late fly fisherman and conservationist Don Hawley, the annual tournament benefits the Guides Trust Foundation, assisting professional fishing guides and supporting backcountry fishery conservation programs.

Key West Island Swim: FKCC Swim Around Key West

The officially sanctioned event is a 12.5-mile swim clockwise around the island of Key West that is open to all age groups. Individual swimmers and relay teams can compete. The route takes swimmers through the waters of the Atlantic Ocean and Gulf of Mexico, ending where they began at Higgs Beach.

Sponsored by the Southernmost VFW Post 3911, this family oriented tournament offers cash prizes for dolphin, wahoo, tuna, snapper and grouper, along with prizes for heaviest fish by a lady angler, heaviest fish by a juvenile angler, pee-wee and active service member. Heaviest Dolphin is worth $2,500. Entry fee $200 per boat By May 19, 2017; $250 per boat after May 19, 2017. All proceeds benefit disabled and veterans in need throughout Monroe County.

Apr. 6, 2017 – Jul. 31, 2017 -Key West Art Garden 2017 305-296-1504 Florida Keys artists and sculptors are featured in this open-air exhibit at the Key West Tropical Forest and Botanical Garden. Exhibit is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Explore a unique blend of sculptured art with Mother Nature that enhances both. The Key West Art Garden showcases local artist’s art work made mostly out of recycled materials displayed as part of nature within the beautiful grounds of the Key West Tropical Forest & Botanical Garden. Art displayed throughout the garden allows visitors to reignite their sense of exploration finding each treasure and appreciating the workmanship in the nature and art. An opening reception to meet the artists and unveiling is to be held on Wed., April 26 from 4-6 p.m. with art walk to follow.

The Key West Fishing Tournament strongly encourages the release of game fish. All participating anglers receive certificates noting their catches and qualify for a variety of prizes.

Key Lime Pie-Making Class: Make Your Own Mini-Pie!
Go behind the scenes at Key West’s sweetest spot for key lime pie and learn to make Key Lime Pie Co.’s award-winning recipe of all-natural ingredients. In this class held each Friday, each participant will make his/her own mini key lime pie of graham cracker crust, key lime filling, and whipped topping—tasting encouraged! Experience pie making in our live kitchen—under the tutelage of one of our seasoned pie makers—where thousands of delicious key lime pies are made every week! After creating your mini pie masterpiece, you can pack it up for later or relax and savor right away. Class is approximately 1 hour in duration; $20 per person. Children under the age of 15 must be accompanied by a paid adult.
