Purple Isles Art Guild Annual Judged Members’ Art Show  Visitors can see unique works of fine art by many of the Keys’ most talented artists as well as those by local junior and senior high school students. Works in watercolors, acrylics, oils, colored pencil, pastels, photography and three-dimensional artistry are presented. In addition to seeing the displayed work, visitors will have a chance to see and speak to an Artist in Residence. Come see art in progress, speak with our talented members and vote for your favorite work of art which will receive the coveted “People’s Choice Award.” The show will run daily from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. at the community room of the Key Largo Public Library in the Tradewinds Shopping Center, mile marker 101.4 oceanside.

Marathon Community Theater presents: Once Upon a Mattress  A fun-filled and family-friendly musical, this fractured fairy tale of the princess and the pea provides some side-splitting shenanigans. 30th Annual Florida Keys Watercolor Society Art Show at Marathon Community Theater  Art viewings are daily from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., and during the intermission of the musical “Once upon a Mattress” at Marathon Community Theater, MM 49.5. The Florida Keys Watercolor Society was founded by 10 local Keys artists in 1980 with a mission to promote art to the public, hold an annual show and conduct a workshop instructed by nationally known instructors and artists. Original Marathon Seafood Festival  One of the middle Keys’ signature culinary and family events, gourmet delicacies from the waters of the Florida Keys highlight this annual munch-fest at Marathon Community Park, mile marker 49 oceanside. Sponsored by Organized Fishermen of Florida and Marathon Chamber of Commerce. Live music, vendor booths, sweets, treats and beverages make for a delectable weekend. Waterfront Playhouse presents: The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee  H-I-L-A-R-I-O-U-S! This jubilant musical is about a group of quirky prepubescent overachievers who are pitted against each other in the spelling challenge of a lifetime. They are overseen by grown-ups who barely managed to escape childhood themselves. Ultimately, the nerdy and the wordy learn that winning isn’t everything and that losing doesn’t necessarily make you a loser. Infectious songs and a laugh-out-loud script make Spelling Bee a winner!  Big Pine & the Lower Keys / March 10

Looking for Volunteers! Mangrove Cleanup followed by BBQ – Music & Fun  The public is invited to help marine life & improve nearshore water quality by attending this mangrove cleanup event, co-sponsored by Reef Relief.
