The History of Diving Museum at MM 83 continues the free, “Immerse Yourself!” series, to begin at 7 p.m., with a special event: “Dolphin Defenders,” presented by Hal Goforth, who shares an eyewitness account of the United States’ Navy’s marine mammal defense system. The Museum is open daily from 10a.m. – 5 p.m. Extended hours on the night of the program until 7pm. Enjoy the Museum’s exhibits before the event.
Islamorada / June 19
Showcasing the fine arts, music and culinary nuances of the Purple Isles, the Morada Way Arts & Cultural District features national and local artisans who are showcased in galleries at Morada Way between mile marker 81 and 82 – formerly named Industrial Road – as well as “culinary art” and live music from 6-9 p.m. In addition to individual artists, participating galleries include the Redbone Gallery, Gallery Morada, Pasta Pantaleo Signature Gallery and Bluewater Potters. Free admission. Art Walk is held the third Thursday of each month.
Islamorada / June 19 – 22
Morada Way Arts & Culture District, The Keys History & Discovery Center and MARC House present a variety of events and exhibits celebrating Millard Wells! Red bandannas are available June 1 at our locations for a donation of $10. Sign up for activities such as the Millard Wells Look-a-like Contest, children’s activities and other events. Thursday, June 19 kicks off with the Third Thursday Art Walk, with a 7 p.m. toast to Millard at Chef Michael’s; Friday, June 20 at 7 p.m., enjoy an evening of open story telling, ‘Millard Is In the Yard,’ at Morada Bay Beach Cafe; Saturday, June 21 a (tickets required) Red Kerchief Reception is to be held at Keys History & Discovery Center, at 6:30 p.m.; Sunday, the Islamorada Moose Lodge is to host an informal closing brunch.

Emerging local artist and graphic designer Marky Pierson is to exhibit new paintings and designs focusing on three distinct categories: ‘Conch Night’ Series featuring the Hemingway House, Custom House and Curry Mansion; ‘Squishy Femme’ Series explores soft, squishy and everything womanly; ‘Graphic Design’ Series features graphic posters of iconic Key West images and large format paintings inspired by vintage tourism posters. Custom House Museum is located at 281 Front Street, and open daily 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Key West / April 6 – November 30
More than 40 species of fish are targeted during these months, with divisions for men, women, junior anglers (ages 10 to 14) and Pee Wees (under 10 years old). The Key West Fishing Tournament strongly encourages the release of game fish. All participating anglers receive certificates noting their catches and qualify for a variety of prizes.

Key West / April 15 – July 31
The cost of admission to the Key West Tropical Forest & Botanical Garden brings visitors an added value and wealth of beauty with 19 sculptures, each made of recycled materials, and some interactive, placed throughout the garden from local contemporary artists. Garden is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily.

For longer than a decade, Will Fernandez has been one of Key West’s most enchanting artists. He paints and sculpts almost entirely from memory and makes his works quite humorous and whimsical. In this exhibition, he displays a number of his impressionistic-style paintings, as well as a selection of his distinctive sculptures in stone, wood, clay and more. Custom House Museum is located at 281 Front Street, and open daily 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Key West / June 19
This regular neighborhood gallery stroll is perhaps the best known among art lovers, held on the island city’s White Street from Southard to United streets and onto Truman Avenue the third Thursday of each month, from 6-9 p.m. The popular evening features exhibitions and receptions at galleries, shops and occasionally other venues. Highlight locations include Harrison Gallery; the quirky and inviting Stone Soup Gallery; and The Studios of Key West, offering regular exhibitions, performances, workshops and studio space in the style of America’s leading artist communities. Each month’s stroll highlights a different artistic genre.
Key West / June 20 – 22
A grand prize of $5,000 cash is to be awarded the boat team with the largest aggregate weight in dolphin during the derby’s two fishing days, with teams allowed to enter one qualifying fish each day. Second- and third-place teams will earn $2,500 and $1,000, respectively. Individual anglers can compete for trophies, prizes and cash totaling more than $15,000 in the tournament’s divisions for male, female and junior participants.

Midsummer’s Night Dream and Spectacle is a night of artistic expression, music, feasting, dancing, singing, and theatrical antics celebrating the art and artists of the Keys. From 5-11 p.m., enjoy a night celebrating the art and artists of Key West. Midsummer’s Night Dream & Spectacle was created to celebrate the creative Keys community, and to give artists a voice and platform to share the power of their dreams. Everyone attending is a participant in this playful and spontaneous celebration – a wonderland of costumed revelers, interactive art projects, and multiple stages featuring artists of local and national renown. This year’s event includes artists, musicians, singers, dancers, sculptors, plein air painters, actors, poets, storytellers, aerial artistry, fire hooping, dance performances, and more. Tickets are $15 advanced purchase online, $20 at the door.
Big Pine & the Lower Keys / June 21 – 22
Celebrate the music of Grateful Dead and related tribute musical acts for a two-day outdoor creative event. A recreation of the Dead’s Shakedown Street vending area also is planned, and a special Pink Floyd set is to be a part of Sunday’s festivities. Music starts at 1 p.m. both days and continues into the evenings. Admission is free, event to be staged at Boondock’s Grille & Draft House, 27205 US Hwy 1, Ramrod Key.
