The Florida Keys / October 15 – May 15

Stone Crab Season

Those succulent claws, brought to shore fresh daily from the waters surrounding the Florida Keys, will drip with drawn butter and mustard sauce on the chins of hungry locals and visitors. A series of food festivals during the season celebrate the sustainable seafood resource throughout the Keys.

History of Diving Museum Honors Military Divers

The History of Diving Museum is honoring military divers from all branches of service and celebrates their contributions to diving. Highlights include the Museum’s free “Immerse Yourself!” series Wednesday, May 21, at 7 p.m., with a special event, “Navy Seals, a Personal Account,” presented by Richard Kaiser.
Saturday, May 24, at 7 p.m., enjoy a book signing and wine & cheese reception with special guest Bob Croft, Navy diver and Father of American Freediving. Admission is $15 per person for this event.
The Museum, at at MM 83, is open daily from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. Extended hours on the night of the programs until 7 p.m. Enjoy the Museum’s exhibits before the events. Interactive events and free showings of classic films are also planned between May 23-26.

Islamorada / May 18 – 21

Golden Fly Invitational Tarpon Tournament

Special flies, accurate casts and a bit of luck are the recipe for winning this prestigious challenge, using only a tournament-furnished tippet not greater than 16-pound test. Eligible tarpon must measure at least 48 inches in length to earn release points, and weigh at least 70 pounds for weight points.

Marathon Community Theater presents: Marrying Terry


Terry Adams is a name shared by a rare books librarian and a forgettable radiologist. One has booked the last room at the Drake Hotel in Chicago during a blizzard in the hopes of getting engaged. The other has reluctantly just gotten engaged and inadvertently celebrates a bit too much in the Drake’s bar. Mistaken identities, out and out deception, delayed planes, missed phone calls and too many well-intentioned friends popping by are all part of this romantic comedy. Key West / March 1 – June 30

Key West Art & Historical Society presents: Marky Pierson, Night Visions in Technicolor

Emerging local artist and graphic designer Marky Pierson is to exhibit new paintings and designs focusing on three distinct categories: ‘Conch Night’ Series featuring the Hemingway House, Custom House and Curry Mansion; ‘Squishy Femme’ Series explores soft, squishy and everything womanly; ‘Graphic Design’ Series features graphic posters of iconic Key West images and large format paintings inspired by vintage tourism posters. Custom House Museum is located at 281 Front Street, and open daily 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Key West / April 6 – November 30

Key West Fishing Tournament

More than 40 species of fish are targeted during these months, with divisions for men, women, junior anglers (ages 10 to 14) and Pee Wees (under 10 years old). The Key West Fishing Tournament strongly encourages the release of game fish. All participating anglers receive certificates noting their catches and qualify for a variety of prizes.

Key West / April 15 – July 31

6th Annual Key West Art Garden

The cost of admission to the Key West Tropical Forest & Botanical Garden brings visitors an added value and wealth of beauty with 19 sculptures, each made of recycled materials, and some interactive, placed throughout the garden from local contemporary artists. Garden is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily.




Key West / May 6 – 24

Waterfront Playhouse Presents: A Dog Story


This is the musical tail, uh, tale, of Roland, a 29-year-old career-driven lawyer looking for a wife. He follows the advice of his womanizing best buddy: get a dog for the summer as a ready-made conversation starter. When Roland adopts tiny (and invisible-to-the-audience!) Cupid, his world is turned upside down. Showtime 8 p.m.

Key West / May 23 – 24

Yamaha Dolphin Masters Invitational

In this challenge headquartered at Conch Republic Seafood Company, more than $13,000 awaits the angler scoring the highest total combined weight of three dolphin catches. Many additional prizes await other top anglers, and there is no limit on the number of participating boats. Registration is Friday, fishing Saturday.
