History of Diving Museum presents: William Beebe in the Galapagos

The History of Diving Museum at MM 83 continues the free, “Immerse Yourself!” series, to begin at 7 p.m., with a special event: “William Beebe in the Galapagos” presented by Jack Grove. The Museum is open daily from 10am-5pm. Extended hours on the night of the program until 7pm. Enjoy the Museum’s exhibits before the event.

Morada Way Arts & Cultural District presents: Third Thursday Art Walk

Showcasing the fine arts, music and culinary nuances of the Purple Isles, the Morada Way Arts & Cultural District features national and local artisans who are showcased in galleries at Morada Way between mile marker 81 and 82 – formerly named Industrial Road – as well as “culinary art” and live music from 6-9 p.m. In addition to individual artists, participating galleries include the Redbone Gallery, Gallery Morada, Pasta Pantaleo Signature Gallery and Bluewater Potters. Free admission. Art Walk is held the third Thursday of each month.

Ocean Life Lecture Series: Ocean Drones, Developing Advanced Tools for Marine Research

Presented by the Friends of Key Largo Cultural Center, Kevin Boswell, Ph.D., is to share his recent research using ocean drone acoustics and video in areas as divers as Alaska and the Florida coast, whose data helps better understand marine and coastal ecosystems. Free and open to the public, the popular Ocean Life Series runs from 6-8 p.m. at Murray E. Nelson Government and Cultural Center, 102050 Overseas Highway (MM 102). Meet and greet at 6 p.m., program begins 7 p.m.

32nd Annual Judged Florida Keys Watercolor Society Art Show

The Florida Keys Watercolor Society was founded by 10 local Keys artists in 1980 with a mission to promote art to the public. Showcasing colorful, luminous watercolors, the show presents original pieces by local artists. View the collection and vote for your favorite. As a gesture of “Artists Helping the Arts”, a percentage of all sales benefits the MCT. Located in the main gallery of the Marathon Community Theater (MM 49.5) during the production of “9 to 5.” viewing is offered Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays from 11 a.m. – 4 p.m. or before the curtain and during intermissions on performance days – Thursday, Friday and Saturday.

Key West Art & Historical Society presents: Tennessee Williams, The Playwright & the Painter

 Chiefly known as a playwright, Tennessee Williams also had an artistic flair for painting. To mark the 30-year anniversary of his death, the Custom House is exhibit a number of Williams’ paintings revealing a different facet of his life and his talents. Custom House Museum is located at 281 Front Street, and open daily 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., closed Christmas.

Key West Art & Historical Society presents: Marky Pierson, Night Visions in Technicolor


Emerging local artist and graphic designer Marky Pierson is to exhibit new paintings and designs focusing on three distinct categories: ‘Conch Night’ Series featuring the Hemingway House, Custom House and Curry Mansion; ‘Squishy Femme’ Series explores soft, squishy and everything womanly; ‘Graphic Design’ Series features graphic posters of iconic Key West images and large format paintings inspired by vintage tourism posters. Happy Birthday Tennessee Williams!

 The Tennessee Williams Key West Exhibit (315 Truman Ave., off Duval St.), in cooperation with the Tropic Cinema, Key West Art and Historical Society, and Artist William Welch are celebrating the 103rd birthday of Tennessee Williams during the month of March. Events planned include a series of four classic movies adapted from Tennessee Williams’ award winning plays being shown at the Tropic, a Poetry Contest, an Artist Challenge, two receptions and an exhibit of original paintings by Tennessee Williams at the Custom House. Wednesday, March 26, a reception honoring the 103rd birthday of Tennessee Williams and his life in Key West is to be held at the Tennessee Williams Key West Exhibit from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Poetry Contest winners will be announced and read their poems; an exhibit of the paintings done during the Artists’ Challenge are to be displayed; and birthday cake, wine and other light refreshments. A suggested donation of $10 from attendees is appreciated.
