Stone Crab Season

Those succulent claws, brought to shore fresh daily from the waters surrounding the Florida Keys, will drip with mustard dip on the chins of hungry locals and visitors. A series of food festivals during the season celebrate the sustainable seafood resource throughout the Keys.

Bubbafest Bike Fest Tours

NEW DATE: 4th Annual Spartan Fishing Tournament

This is a multi-species, inshore and offshore boat tournament, hosted at La Siesta Resort and Marina. The format allows anglers to register as an individual or as a team on either a local professionally guided boat or private boat. Awards are given in both divisions based on total points for caught fish. Registration includes captains meeting, breakfast at the dock before fishing, goodie bag, fishing in the tournament, BBQ and awards after fishing. There is also to be a raffle during the BBQ! Bring the whole family to celebrate the festivities.

Key Largo / November 2 – 17

Key Players presents: “Drinking Habits”

Accusations, mistaken identities, and romances run wild in this traditional, laugh-out-loud farce. Two nuns at the Sisters of Perpetual Sewing have been secretly making wine to keep the convent’s doors open, but Paul and Sally, reporters and former fiancees, are hot on their trail. They go undercover as a nun and priest, but their presence, combined with the addition of a new nun, spurs paranoia throughout the convent that spies have been sent from Rome to shut them down. Wine and secrets are inevitably spilled as everyone tries to preserve the convent and reconnect with lost loves. Tickets $13 in advance, $15 at the door. Performances are to be held at the Key Largo Lion’s Club MM 99.6 Oceanside, behind Capital Bank (formerly TIB Bank). Shows start at 8 p.m., visit website for show dates.

Redbone Celebrity Tournament

Celebrities join other anglers to catch bonefish and redfish to raise money for cystic fibrosis research in the final event of the annual Redbone Celebrity Tournament Series.

Trick or Treat at Gulfside Village

Costumed goblins and ghouls can also trick-or-treat at the outdoor Gulfside Village shopping plaza, 5800 Overseas Highway. The annual community Halloween party is open to the public from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., with refreshments and treats for young children, parents and grandparents to enjoy.

Gay Key West Trolley Tour

Enjoy a fabulous tour of Key West…with a twist. A gay twist that is! Get a unique tour of Key West and learn about our colorful history that includes the famous and the infamous. Key West Fishing Tournament

More than 40 species of fish are targeted during these months, with divisions for men, women, junior anglers (ages 10 to 14) and Pee Wees (under 10 years old). In a March kickoff event, anglers target 15 species and $5,000 in cash prizes is split between the top anglers.

21st Annual Parrot Heads in Key West

Several thousand fans of singer/songwriter/author Jimmy Buffett, known as Parrot Heads, make an annual pilgrimage to the subtropical island that inspired many of Buffett’s hits. As well as sharing an appreciation for Buffett’s music and the tropical lifestyle it promotes, Parrot Head club members focus on charitable, environmental, educational and humanitarian activities.

Key West World Championship Race

High-speed offshore powerboats race in Key West Harbor and surrounding waters to continue Key West’s longstanding tradition in this 31st annual challenge, known internationally as the Indianapolis 500 of powerboat racing. A portion of the 6.5-mile course runs through Key West Harbor, meaning smooth water where racers can achieve speeds above 140 mph and provide fans breathtaking displays of skill and power.
