Islamorada / September 3
Matecumbe Historical Trust (MHT) presents a Labor Day memorial service at the hurricane monument, scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. at The Florida Keys Memorial located at MM81.5, Oceanside. The memorial is dedicated to local residents and WW1 veterans who lost their lives during the great Labor Day storm of 1935.

Marathon / September 1
Nearly 50 triathletes are to compete on in this family-friendly, neighborhood style triathlon. The event has two distances — a sprint triathlon (half-mile swim, 12-mile bike ride and three-mile run) and a “mini” sprint which is exactly half that combined distance. The race starts at 8 a.m. with a swim at Sombrero Beach, a bike ride around Sombrero Country Club golf course and a run through the surrounding beach neighborhood. Marathon / September 1
Each fall, Hawks Cay Resort hosts an annual Heroes Welcome program, this year from Aug. 20 – Nov. 18, to honor military, fire and rescue, law enforcement and medical personnel; a special event is planned to include an All-American barbecue, heroes tribute and country music concert featuring Nashville recording artist Daniel Lee Martin. Key West / January 01 to December 31

Key West / March 17 – November 30
More than 40 species of fish are targeted during these months, with divisions for men, women, junior anglers (ages 10 to 14) and Pee Wees (under 10 years old). In a March kickoff event, anglers target 15 species and $5,000 in cash prizes is split between the top anglers.

Key West / August 30 – September 3
More than 150 beers and micro-brews are on to be tap at this “tasty” annual event that benefits the charitable efforts of the Key West Sunrise Rotary Club of the Conch Republic. Events from beer dinners, beer brunches, happy hour parties, pool parties, late-night parties, seminars and the Signature Tasting Festival Event are some of the great activities on tap.
Key West / September 4 – 9
Womenfest offers a wide range of activities guaranteed to appeal to a broad range of interests. Golfing with palm trees and iguanas, clothing-optional pool parties, a sizzling dance club scene, and women-only water excursions that range from jet skis to dolphin watching all promise to pique the interest of the more adventurous while film, live music, and special comedy shows offer the opportunity to enjoy paradise at a slower pace. All of this on a tropical island that is close to perfect and far from normal!
